Diploma in Responding to Trauma and Violence using Narrative Practices
The (In-person) Responding to Trauma and Violence Diploma is a 10-month long exploration of Narrative Ideas and Practices which will be held in Delhi starting February 2026.
“How do we be alongside the stories of those who are and have been violated and are suffering-responding to injustices?”
In this 10-month Diploma, we will be exploring the politics of trauma and violence, navigating the lands of subjugated stories of response and resistance, while paying close attention to our body, breath, and the wisdom it holds. To understand how trauma affects people's relationships, hopes, bodies, and sense of self, we will be exploring the Externalisation, Re-authoring, Absent but Implicit, and Outsider Witness Practices, while learning how to intentionally document.

What we will explore?
We will be exploring narrative ideas, metaphors, and maps to navigate through territories of life, especially those that are impacted by trauma, while being guided by these beliefs:

Communities and people are experts of their own lives, who have know-hows and wisdom in responding to adversities, which are stored in the stories of their lived experiences.

We are all making meaning of our experiences, but this meaning-making is influenced by the socio-cultural-historical-political intersections.

All the problems in this world are located in structural systems of oppression and not in communities and people’s bodies and identities.

We are all made of stories, and stories are how we make sense of the world around us and ourselves. No story is fixed, which means we can re-author them in our preferred ways.

Stories and identity construction are political because stories are advantaged and disadvantaged based on their gender, sexuality, skin color, caste, class, religion, region, ability, schooling, etc.

This exploration will happen through sharing and drawing on experiences that emphasise the impact of trauma, and how people and communities respond to the same.
